Tracking Inspection Status

How to schedule and track inspections throughout your build.

When inspections happen

Inspections are required at specific points during construction:

  • **Foundation** — after footings and before pouring
  • **Framing** — after the structure is complete, before closing walls
  • **Rough-In** — electrical, plumbing and mechanical, before drywall
  • **Insulation** — after installation, before drywall
  • **Final** — complete inspection before the certificate of occupancy

Scheduling inspections

Contact your local building department to schedule each inspection. Most departments want 24 to 48
hours' notice. OwnerDraw cannot book an inspection and is not connected to any authority.

What happens if you fail?

1. The inspector notes what must be corrected.
2. Fix the issues.
3. Schedule a re-inspection.
4. Pass the re-inspection before proceeding.

Keeping the record in OwnerDraw

There is no inspection record, status or result field in OwnerDraw, and it never notifies you that an
inspection is due. Keep the trail like this:

A completed QC checklist is your own verification. It is not code compliance, not an inspection
result, and it does not release a payment.
