How to prepare for building inspections and ensure you pass the first time.

Before the Inspection

• Clean the work area — inspectors appreciate a tidy site
• Make sure the work is actually complete (don't schedule early)
• Have your approved plans on-site and accessible
• Ensure the inspector can access all areas safely
• Post your building permit in a visible location

Documentation to Have Ready

• Approved building plans
• Any approved revisions or change orders
• Engineering reports if required
• Product certifications for specific materials
