Understanding the Playbook
What the Playbook is, how phases work, and how to follow the build sequence.
What is the Playbook?
The Playbook is your phase-by-phase construction guide. Think of it as a step-by-step recipe for building a house. It breaks the entire construction process into manageable phases and tells you what to do at each stage.
How Phases Work
Construction follows a logical sequence — you can't put up drywall before framing, and you can't frame before the foundation is poured. The Playbook organizes your build into these phases:
1. **Pre-Construction** — Planning, permitting, and site preparation
2. **Foundation** — Excavation, footings, and foundation walls
3. **Framing** — Structure, roof, and windows
4. **MEP Rough-In** — Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in
5. **Insulation & Drywall** — Insulation, drywall, and interior prep
6. **Finishes** — Flooring, cabinets, countertops, paint, and trim
7. **Final** — Landscaping, final inspections, and move-in
Guidance Entries
Each phase contains guidance entries — specific tasks and tips that tell you what to focus on, what to watch out for, and what questions to ask your subcontractors.
> TIP: Don't skip phases or rush ahead. The Playbook sequence is based on how real construction projects flow. Following it helps you avoid costly mistakes.
