Choosing a Selection and Understanding Variance

How to mark a selection as chosen and what the variance means for your budget.

Making Your Choice

When you've decided on a product:

1. Open the allowance
2. Find the selection you want
3. Click **Choose This Selection**
4. The selection is now marked as your chosen product

Understanding Variance

Variance is the difference between your budgeted allowance amount and the actual cost of your chosen selection:

  • **Under budget (green)** — Your selection costs less than the allowance. The savings can offset overages elsewhere.
  • **Over budget (red)** — Your selection costs more than the allowance. You need to find savings elsewhere or accept the overage.
  • **On budget** — Your selection matches the allowance exactly.

> TIP: OwnerDraw never overwrites your original budget amount. The variance is shown alongside your budget so you always know the impact of your selections.
