The Allowance Dashboard
Reading the summary bar, category cards, progress bars, and variance warning banner.
What the page shows
**Selections** lists every Budget line marked **Allowance Item**, one card each. Open a card and its items are right there — there is no category layer to expand first.
Above the list, three figures cover the whole project:
- **Allowance Budget** — the marked Budget lines' revised budgets added up
- **Selected Total** — chosen products that have a price
- **Items chosen** — for example *7 of 12*
If any chosen product has no price entered, the page says so under the Selected Total and marks the figure incomplete.
What each allowance card shows
- **Allowance Budget** — that Budget line's revised budget
- **Selected Total** — the chosen products in that allowance
- progress, such as **3 of 4 items chosen**, with the items still needing a choice named
- either the amount **not yet allocated** or the amount **over allowance**
Reading it honestly
- An item with no choice is not a $0 purchase. It is undecided.
- Money not yet allocated is **not savings**. It is money still to be spent until every item is chosen and priced.
- A chosen product with no price is flagged rather than counted as zero.
Go over the allowance and you get the exact amount over, with **Review Choices** and **Open Budget**. Nothing in your budget moves on its own.
Searching
The search box matches allowance names, cost codes, item names, rooms and product names.
Allowances no longer marked in Budget
If you unmark **Allowance Item** on a Budget line, a notice appears at the top of the page. Nothing was deleted — the allowance is still listed with everything in it.
There is no export
Selections has no export or download. Read the figures on this page, or work from **Budget**, which does export.
> TIP: Progress comes from the items themselves, so there is no separate progress field to keep up to date.
What happens next
Work the items that still need a choice, then record bills in **Expenses** as they arrive.
