Adding Product Selections

How to add product options with URLs, prices, quantities, and images for comparison.

The structure

**Budget line marked "Allowance Item" → items to choose → product options for each item → one chosen product per item.**

*Plumbing Fixtures — $5,000* is one allowance. Inside it you might add four items: Kitchen Faucet, Bathroom Faucets, Toilets, Shower Fixtures. *Shower Tile* might hold a single item. The workflow is the same either way.

Adding an item

Open the allowance, then **Add Item**. Give it a name — the decision, such as *Toilets*. **Room / Location** is optional.

You can enter the first product in the same form, so you do not have to open a second one.

Adding product options

On an item, **Add Product Option** records a candidate with its **Product Name**, price, quantity, unit, link, vendor and notes.

Two routes:

• **Add Product Option** — record it as an alternative, without choosing it.
• **Save & Choose** — record it and pick it in one step.

**Compare Options** shows the alternatives for that item, where you can switch the choice, edit an option or remove one. Every item and option has a visible edit action; nothing needs dragging.

Quantities and prices

• Decimal quantities are kept as typed — **2.5** stays 2.5.
• Quantity must be more than zero, and a price cannot be negative.
• **Leave the price blank when you do not know it.** It stays visibly unknown instead of counting as $0, and the allowance says a chosen product has no price.
• The price you type is the price used. Nothing is added for tax, delivery or installation.

If a save fails, the form stays open with what you typed still in it.

> TIP: Add an item for every decision you will have to make, even the ones you have not started shopping for. Then the progress count tells you the truth.

What happens next

Choose one product per item, then read the allowance totals to see what is still unallocated.
