Inviting Team Members to Your Project
Step-by-step guide to inviting your spouse, banker, contractor, or other collaborators to your OwnerDraw project.
Overview
OwnerDraw lets you invite people to collaborate on your project using secure invite links. Only the **project Owner** can create and manage invitations.
How to Send an Invite
1. Open your project and click the **People** icon in the top navigation bar (or go to **Team** in the sidebar)
2. Click **Invite Someone**
3. Choose the **role** you want to assign (Partner, Banker, or Collaborator)
4. For Collaborator invites, configure the specific permissions using the checkboxes
5. Optionally add a **label** (e.g., "John - Electrician") to help you remember who the link is for
6. Click **Create Invite** to generate a unique invite link
7. **Copy the link** and send it to your team member via email, text, or any messaging app
> **TIP:** Each invite link is single-use and expires after 7 days. If it expires before the person accepts, simply create a new one.
What Happens When Someone Accepts
When the recipient clicks the invite link:
1. They'll see a page showing your **project name**, the **role** they've been invited to, and a summary of what they'll be able to access
2. If they already have an OwnerDraw account, they can sign in and accept
3. If they're new to OwnerDraw, they'll create a free account first, then accept the invite
4. Once accepted, they'll be taken directly to your project dashboard
The invite link becomes invalid after it's used — it cannot be shared with additional people.
Managing Your Team
After people have joined your project, you can manage them from the **Team** panel:
- **View all members** — see who has access and their roles
- **Remove a member** — revoke their access immediately
- **View pending invites** — see which links haven't been accepted yet
- **Revoke an invite** — cancel a pending invite before it's used
> **WARNING:** When you remove a team member, they lose access immediately. Any work they've done (expenses logged, to-dos completed, etc.) is preserved in the project.
Invite Limits
- **Partner**: You can have up to 1 Partner per project
- **Banker**: You can invite multiple bankers if needed (e.g., loan officer + inspector)
- **Collaborator**: No limit on the number of Collaborators
