Your Account, Sign-In and Who Can See Your Build

What the Profile page actually does, how to change your password or get back in, and how project roles and permissions decide who sees your build.

Two different things get confused all the time, so start here:

  • **Your account** is you — your email address and your password. One account, no matter how many
  • builds you run.
  • **Project access** is per build. Each project has its own people, each with their own role and
  • permission levels. Giving somebody access to one project gives them nothing on another.

The **Profile** page covers the account half. Project access lives inside each project, under
**Manage Team**.

What the Profile page does

Open it from your name in the top-right menu, then **Profile**. It holds exactly two things:

  • **Account** — shows the email address you are signed in as, for confirmation. It is not editable
  • here.
  • **Change Password** — set a new password for your account.

That is the whole page. There is no name, phone number, company, photo, time zone or notification
setting on it. If a guide or an older article tells you to edit your **Full Name** here, that
article is out of date — the field does not exist. The names shown on lender packets and other
documents come from your project and vendor records, not from a profile field.

Start here

1. Open the top-right menu → **Profile**.
2. Check the address under **Signed in as** is the one you want on the account.
3. Under **Change Password**, type a new password in **New password** (six characters minimum) and
the same one in **Confirm password**.
4. Select **Update password**. You will see **Password updated**, and you stay signed in.
5. Use the new password next time you sign in — including on your phone.

*Builder note:* six characters is only the minimum the form enforces. This account holds your
budget, your draw requests and your lender paperwork. Use a long unique password and a password
manager.

Signing in, and getting back in

| I want to | Do this |
|---|---|
| Sign in | The **Sign In** tab on the sign-in page — email and password |
| Create an account | The **Sign Up** tab, then confirm the email that arrives |
| Change my password while signed in | **Profile** → **Change Password** → **Update password** |
| I forgot my password | On the sign-in page, use the forgotten-password link, then follow the emailed link and set a new one |
| Sign out | Top-right menu → **Sign Out** |

Two honest limits:

  • **You cannot change your own sign-in email address in the app.** Contact support if you need it
  • moved.
  • **You cannot delete your own account from the app.** Contact support.

Password recovery emails and account confirmation emails come from OwnerDraw automatically. Nothing
else about your account is emailed to you.

Who can see your build: roles and permissions

Everything below is per project, set by that project's owner from **Manage Team**.

| Role | What it is for | Roughly what it gets |
|---|---|---|
| **Owner** | You, the person running the build | Everything, including inviting people and removing them |
| **Partner** | A spouse or co-owner working the build with you | Full read and write, except managing people, billing and project settings |
| **Banker** | Your loan officer or inspector | Read access to the money and paperwork they need — budget, draws, allowances, documents, schedule — plus write access to the Schedule of Values and to-dos |
| **Collaborator** | An assistant, designer or trade partner | Whatever you set, feature by feature: **Admin**, **Write**, **Read** or **None** |
| **Client** | Only for builders managing a homeowner client | A separate, restricted portal view — read access to budget, allowances, expenses, change orders, takeoffs and documents |

Permission levels mean what they say: **Read** can look, **Write** can change, **Admin** can also
manage that area, **None** hides it. A seat on a project is not permission by itself — a
collaborator set to **Read** on To-Dos, for example, can see the project's to-dos but cannot add
one. If somebody needs to create their own work items, give them **Write** on To-Dos.

The **Client** role is not a general-purpose way to share a build. It powers a separately branded
client portal that only an administrator sets up for their own homeowner clients. Do not pick it as
a substitute for **Banker** or a read-only **Collaborator**.

Inviting and removing people

| I want to | Do this |
|---|---|
| Invite somebody | Open the project → **Manage Team** → **Invite** → enter their email, pick a role, set permissions if they are a collaborator |
| Share the link myself | Copy the invite link shown after you create it, and send it yourself |
| Cancel an invite that has not been used | **Manage Team** → the pending invite → revoke it. The link stops working |
| Change what somebody can do | **Manage Team** → the person → change their role or their per-feature permissions |
| Take access away | **Manage Team** → **Remove**, then confirm |

What you should know about these:

  • Creating an invite emails the invitation to that address automatically. If the email fails, you
  • are told, and you can copy the link and send it yourself.
  • **Only the project owner can invite people to a project.** If you try on somebody else's project
  • you will be told to switch to a project you own.
  • Invite links expire, and each one is for the address you typed.
  • **Removing somebody takes their access away immediately, and nothing they did disappears.** Their
  • expenses, messages, to-dos and uploads stay in the project. What they lose is the ability to open
  • it — including project to-dos they created or that are still assigned to them. Their own personal
  • to-dos, the ones with no project, remain private to them.

Messages are not private

Worth saying plainly, because people assume otherwise: **project messages are visible to every seat
on that project**, including bankers and clients. There are no private threads, no direct messages
and no read receipts. If something should not be seen by your loan officer or your client, do not
put it in Messages.

Common questions

**Where do I change my name?**
Nowhere on the Profile page — the field does not exist. Names on documents come from the project and
vendor records you fill in.

**Do I need to set up notification preferences?**
There are none to set. Alerts appear in the app's bell for a couple of events; OwnerDraw does not
email you about draws, messages or to-dos.

**Does a banker cost me a seat?**
Bankers and partners are included — see the pricing page for what your plan covers.

**If I remove somebody, do I lose their work?**
No. Their records stay. Only their access ends.

**Is my project access the same on my phone?**
Yes. Roles and permissions are the same everywhere you sign in.
